The Indian Motorcycle brand is entering a significant period of transition, with major developments taking place behind the scenes that will affect dealerships, riders, and the global community over the coming year. As part of our commitment to keeping riders informed, IMRGlobal is sharing this important update with all members around the world.
Indian Motorcycle’s current owner, Polaris Industries, has officially announced that it intends to sell the Indian Motorcycle brand to Carolwood LP, a private investment group based in the United States. This is a major shift for the company and marks the beginning of a new chapter for the brand’s future.
According to public announcements, the transfer of the brand — including the Spirit Lake factory, design centres, and approximately 900 employees — is expected to be completed in early 2026, with Polaris retaining only a minority share. Leadership changes have also been confirmed, including the appointment of Mike Kennedy, a long-time Harley-Davidson executive, as the incoming CEO of Indian Motorcycle under Carolwood ownership.
What this means for riders is still unfolding. Many dealerships across Europe and the UK have already experienced reduced support, and some have chosen to step away from the brand entirely. Worldwide, riders have shared concerns about parts availability, warranty support, technical assistance, and communication. As the transition progresses, these changes may continue to affect owners in different regions.
IMRGlobal remains committed to supporting Indian Motorcycle riders through this uncertain period. As an independent, rider-led organisation with no affiliation to IMI or Polaris, our goal is to provide stability, connection, and reliable community-driven support at a time when official structures are changing.
To assist riders globally, IMRGlobal is focusing on:
- Strengthening regional communities through ambassadors and country pages
- Building networks of trusted independent mechanics and service hubs
- Expanding our worldwide noticeboard for events, advice, and rider information
- Supporting riders affected by dealership closures or reduced support
- Collaborating with rental companies to ensure continued availability of Indian Motorcycle experiences worldwide
- Providing clear information as the situation develops
The future of Indian Motorcycle under Carolwood LP is still taking shape. Whether this transition brings growth, restructuring, or new challenges, IMRGlobal’s role remains the same: to support riders, foster unity, and ensure that the community remains strong, informed, and connected.
We will continue to monitor developments closely and share updates as more information becomes available.
IMRGlobal exists because riders support each other. No matter what changes come from IMI, this community remains strong — and together, we will continue to ride forward.
